About The Position
The Financial Aid Counselor - Operations reports to the Director of Financial Aid and needs a comprehensive knowledge of the financial aid process as well as possess a technical working knowledge of federal and state regulations. The role involves managing private scholarships, veteran benefits, Missouri scholarships, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Foundation Loan programs. The counselor is responsible for Federal TEACH Grant and Stafford Loan exit counseling programs, processing, adjusting, and disbursing financial aid through University systems such as Ellucian Banner. The position requires working cooperatively and effectively with other University offices such as Student Accounts, Information Technology Services, Registrar, Payroll, academic departments, as well as multiple external entities. A team-oriented, committed approach to excellence in customer service is essential in the performance of duties. The counselor will also counsel students and families on financial aid opportunities and processes in person, over the phone, and email as the primary point of contact. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
