About The Position

GENERAL SUMMARY The Financial Aid Advisor/Verification Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid Operations. This position requires a highly functional knowledge of federal student aid eligibility regulation, exceptional analytical skills and exercises a high degree of professional judgment. This position coordinates processing for all aid applications and verification processes received by the office in compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations, guidelines and procedures. The Financial Aid Advisor/Verification Coordinator supports students, parents, and other financial aid office functions regarding application process, eligibility, analysis, budgeting, packaging and disbursement in compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines; and evaluates and analyzes complex eligibility and application requirements and resolves discrepancies. This position is also responsible for annual review and implementing federal verification guidelines, and for resolving C flags, ISIR data corrections, rejected files and all ISIR loading processes.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Business, Education, Social Sciences, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of hands-on experience working in a college/university Financial Aid office performing: FAFSA review and needs analysis Verification processing ISIR review and correction Resolving C-flags, comment codes, and rejected applications Packaging aid and/or awarding
  • Commitment to quality customer service.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle numerous complex and routine tasks simultaneously.
  • Human relations skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to work with complex long and short-range concurrent planning for overlapping aid years.
  • Ability to accommodate some weekend and evening hours.
  • Working knowledge of Banner Financial Aid software.
  • Experience using financial aid systems such as: COD FAA Access NSLDS EdConnect Regent Cognos Banner

Responsibilities

  • Manages student aid eligibility issues, reporting and verification processes
  • Analyze federal and state documentation and verification worksheets
  • Evaluate original FAFSA application to resolve conflicting information
  • Ensure compliance in student eligibility requirements
  • Coordinate requests for additional information from students
  • Maintain current written CCD procedures
  • Report weekly statistics to Associate Director of Financial Aid Operations
  • Recommend form updates as needed (in conjunction with Associate Director of Operations)
  • Process ISIR corrections
  • Serve on the Professional Judgment Committee
  • Process Income Adjustment Appeals
  • Monitor and resolve issues with discrepancy reports
  • Investigate potential fraud and fraud referrals
  • Resolve C-flag, rejects and comment code.
  • Coordinate data load processes, including batch posting and suspense files.
  • Assist students and parents with application and eligibility requirements.
  • Provides exceptional customer service in-person or via email/phone.
  • Run daily reports for ready-for-review, C-flags, discrepancy, data load
  • Conduct and attend professional training to maintain program integrity
  • Other duties as assigned
