About The Position

The Financial Accounts Technician position at the Department of Veterans Affairs involves performing analysis and evaluation of financial, accounting, or payroll data within a revolving fund environment. The role is critical in ensuring accurate financial transactions and maintaining compliance with regulations, while providing support to various departments within the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
• Experience in receiving, reviewing, and processing requests/documents for accounting transactions.
• Experience in examining requests documents for accuracy and reviewing manual and automated records for determination.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with federal financial systems and regulations.
• Knowledge of payroll processing and accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Receives, reviews, and processes varied requests/documents for the obligation and accrual of funds.
• Inputs obligations, accruals, adjustments, and cost transfers into the automated accounting systems.
• Maintains obligation/accrual files to include disbursements.
• Reviews manual and automated records to determine whether they have been obliged, modified, or cancelled.
• Composes letters and messages to care lines/services, companies, and individuals to notify changes or potential changes to policy.
• Reviews payments in progress to see if paid on time.
• Monitors timekeeping input for the facility.
• Maintains customer support files for federal, state, and local tax authorizations, and all other documents affecting pay.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
