About The Position

The Financial Accounting Manager is a hands-on role responsible for executing and managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company. Working under the technical guidance of the CFO, this position owns the monthly close process, maintains continuous audit readiness, and ensures the timely and accurate production of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. The Financial Accounting Manager will play a critical role in operationalizing and refining scalable accounting processes as the company transitions from Bitcoin mining operations to AI/HPC data center services. The ideal candidate thrives in a small, fast-paced environment and is comfortable wearing multiple hats while maintaining precision and integrity in financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on responsibility for month-end close, financial statement preparation, and audit coordination
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in leveraging AI-based tools, automation, and emerging financial technologies to enhance accounting efficiency and scalability

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation preferred
  • Experience with or exposure to data center, energy, mining, or infrastructure-related industries
  • Experience supporting companies through significant business model transitions or periods of rapid growth
  • Prior experience preparing financial information for debt compliance or investor reporting
  • Knowledge of ASC 842 (leases), ASC 815 (derivatives), or ASC 606 (revenue recognition)
  • Experience with joint venture accounting, including equity method accounting, capital tracking, and intercompany eliminations

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the full month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all entries, reconciliations, and adjustments are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries across all functional areas, including revenue recognition, project costs, lease amortization, and fixed assets; maintain related subledger detail, supporting schedules, and reconciliation workpapers
  • Maintain schedules and perform accounting for debt obligations, including term loans, interest accruals and covenant compliance calculations
  • Account for hedge and derivative instruments, including maintaining hedge documentation, recording fair value adjustments, and ensuring proper classification under ASC 815
  • Execute the ongoing accounting, reporting, and compliance processes for joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and complex ownership structures, including capital contributions, distributions, profit and loss allocations, and consolidation considerations under U.S. GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain close calendars and checklists to ensure consistency and completeness of the close process
  • Maintain continuous audit readiness by ensuring supporting documentation, schedules, and workpapers are organized and current throughout the year
  • Partner with CFO in coordinating with external auditors, managing information requests and coordinating audit timelines
  • Ensure compliance with debt covenant reporting requirements on a quarterly basis
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls over financial reporting to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity
  • Support tax compliance efforts in coordination with external tax advisors, including income, sales/use, and property taxes applicable to data center operations
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate filing of all federal, state, and local tax obligations, including income, sales/use, property, and franchise taxes
  • Develop and manage a sales and use tax compliance process, including tracking taxable transactions, maintaining exemption certificates and ensuring proper tax treatment across all purchasing and vendor activities
  • Prepare and maintain tax schedules, supporting workpapers, and documentation required for annual tax return preparation
  • Assist external tax advisors in the preparation of income tax provisions, including providing supporting schedules for deferred tax assets and liabilities
  • Monitor and track applicable tax credits, incentives, and exemptions relevant to data center and energy operations in Texas
  • Evaluate existing accounting workflows and identify opportunities to streamline, standardize, and document processes to support a growing and evolving organization
  • Design and implement scalable processes for recurring accounting activities, including close procedures, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Champion the use of automation tools, AI-based solutions, and technology to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and increase the capacity of the accounting function
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures and desktop guides, to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer
  • Collaborate with the CFO to assess and implement accounting system enhancements that align with the company's growth trajectory
  • Collaborate with operational teams to track and analyze costs associated with power, purchasing and data center operations
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support executive decision-making
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities as needed
  • Partner with the CFO on special projects related to the company’s growth strategy and evolving business model
