Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Typically requires 8+ years of experience pertaining to departmental functions
• Typically requires 5+ years of experience leading and managing teams
• Insurance designation or equivalent experience required
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required (or in progress)

Nice To Haves

• Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred

Responsibilities

• Trains, supervises, and mentors financial accounting staff and leadership
• Ensures communication and adherence to the close schedules for Property and Casualty (P&C) and Life companies
• Prepares documentation for and works with outside auditors and state examiners as needed
• Works closely with the Financial Reporting team to ensure proper accounting for P&C and Life companies
• Responsible for reviewing and approving bank and account reconciliations
• Maintains all accounting controls to ensure adherence
• Maintains general ledger system and reporting within Workday
• Assists IT and other business partners on projects that impact accounting
• Assists the Controller with various projects as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned
