About The Position

For our office in Telford we are looking for a financial accountant in full time. Assisting the Finance Manager in managing and reporting all financial transactions and records, whilst ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations while preparing accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Requirements

  • An in-depth understanding of accounting principles, UK reporting requirements, financial regulations, and tax laws is fundamental
  • Precision in financial record-keeping and reporting is vital to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary for conveying financial information to diverse stakeholders
  • Collaborating with colleagues, auditors, and cross-functional teams is vital to achieving financial goals
  • Efficiently managing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment is critical
  • The capability to identify and resolve financial challenges and discrepancies is valuable
  • Qualified CIMA / ACCA or working towards end of qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Preparing periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and cash flows statements
  • Generate accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare support for corporate tax computations, ensuring adherence to UK tax laws and regulations
  • Handle tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities
  • Preparation of VAT Return workings and filings with associated reconciliations
  • Handle VAT audits and inquiries
  • Preparation and delivery of statutory accounts, statistical returns, internal and external audits within agreed timetables
  • Ensure the business is compliant with financial governance requirements
  • Delivery of the monthly close process, analysing transactions and preparing required journals
  • Processing journals ensuring that all accounting entries are supported by working papers for analytical review and audit
  • Completing account reconciliations to review and clear balance sheet control accounts, including maintaining appropriate documentation to support the audit
  • Inter-company reconciliations for both P&L and balance sheet accounts across multiple entities
  • Monitor and evaluate financial information systems and suggest improvements where weaknesses are identified
  • Implement internal controls and management of the SOX matrix for internal and external audits
  • Oversee the process and controls across sales ledger and purchase ledger
  • Any further ad-hoc finance duties that may be required
