The Financial Accountant III, under general direction, performs complex professional accounting tasks. Position is located on Tarleton State’s main campus in Stephenville, Texas with normal work hours from Monday to Friday; from 8am to 5pm or as work requirements indicate. Serves as Campus Security Authority. This job posting will be used to fill two open positions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Four years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex accounting work to include recording, examining, and analyzing of financial records, documents or reports.
  • Prepares financial statements, reports, schedules, and exhibits.
  • Audits accounting and financial documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Reviews daily cash flow activity and prepares accounting entries for processing in the accounting systems.
  • Classifies, codes, posts, and balances financial and accounting documents and records.
  • Performs daily and monthly reconciliations of credit card clearing accounts and general ledger (GL) accounts to ensure accurate accounting.
  • Monitors accounts.
  • Identifies financial discrepancies and informs management.
  • Forecasts expenditures
  • Serves as a resource in solving accounting or financial problems.
  • Assists in making recommendations for improvements, adaptations, or revisions to the accounting system, policies and procedures.
  • Identifies financial discrepancies and budget shortfalls and informs management
  • Maintains systems and controls necessary to provide accurate accounts of expenditures and budget balances.
  • Assists with the preparation of the Annual Financial Report.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
