About The Position

The Legacy Companies is seeking a detail‑oriented and motivated Finance Specialist to support key accounting, reporting, and financial planning activities. This role is ideal for an early‑career finance professional who is eager to learn, build technical skills, and gain exposure to multiple areas of the business. The Finance Specialist will work closely with the Finance Director, Controller, and broader Finance team to support monthly close activities, forecasting, treasury tasks, borrowing base reporting, and system documentation. This position requires strong analytical skills, curiosity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles (internships included).
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
  • Basic understanding of GAAP and financial statements.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new systems and tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Power BI, Power Pivot, or other data visualization tools.
  • Experience with ERP systems, ideally M3 (not required; training provided).
  • Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, or financial close processes.
  • Interest in developing skills in SQL or data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing components of the Annual Operating Plan and 2‑Year Strategic Plan, including gathering data and updating templates.
  • Support the development of monthly Income Statement reporting packages, including basic variance explanations and trend analysis.
  • Help with the monthly forecast cycle by consolidating inputs, updating schedules, and performing preliminary variance checks.
  • Prepare routine journal entries under supervision.
  • Complete account reconciliations and assist with monthly variance analysis.
  • Support the Controller with close‑related tasks, documentation, and process tracking.
  • Assist with preparing the Borrowing Base report by consolidating AR and Inventory data into the required bank format.
  • Submit required reporting to the bank after internal review.
  • Provide approximately one hour per day of support to Treasury, assisting with routine cash management tasks (to be defined by leadership).
  • Help track CapEx requests and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Update monthly CapEx schedules and assist with reporting on spend vs. budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Prepare ad‑hoc reports and analysis as directed by the Finance Director and Controller.
  • Support profitability analysis by customer, brand, site, or sales channel using Excel and Power BI (training provided).
  • Assist Sales & Marketing with promotional effectiveness analysis as needed.
  • Help build and maintain M3 training materials to support internal knowledge development.
  • Document procedures after working with the M3 consultant, focusing on one functional area at a time.
  • Train AR/AP team members on how to run reports and navigate M3 where knowledge gaps exist.
  • Run M3 reports as directed and provide outputs to the Controller and Finance team for review.
