About The Position

Our client is looking for a skilled Finance & Payroll Operations Analyst to strengthen their financial operations and ensure compliance across accounting, payroll, and budgeting functions. This role blends hands-on accounting execution, multi-state payroll administration, and analytical financial support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, compliance-focused environment. You will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, payroll integrity, and data-driven insights for leadership.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in accounting, payroll, or financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, payroll regulations, and multi-state compliance.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and payroll platforms (ADP, Paycom, Paychex, etc.).
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, financial modeling).
  • Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and operate with high integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting government contracts or public-sector programs.
  • Familiarity with ACA, FLSA, and public-sector reporting requirements.
  • Exposure to budgeting tools or BI dashboards (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Process AP/AR, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries and support audit readiness.
  • Assist with financial reporting, variance analysis, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure proper coding, documentation, and internal controls across all transactions.
  • Manage full-cycle payroll for multi-state employees in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Validate timesheets, deductions, benefits, garnishments, and ACA-related reporting.
  • Maintain payroll records, resolve discrepancies, and support year-end W-2/1099 processes.
  • Partner with HR to ensure seamless onboarding/offboarding from a payroll perspective.
  • Support development of annual budgets, forecasts, and cost models.
  • Conduct labor cost analysis, margin modeling, and scenario planning.
  • Prepare dashboards and financial summaries for leadership and client reporting.
  • Analyze trends, identify risks, and recommend cost-optimization strategies.
