Under the supervision of the Finance Director, the Finance Manager plays a key role in maintaining accurate, compliant, and timely financial operations for IRC Arizona. The position oversees donor invoicing, month-end close processes, and key accounting functions including accounts payable and receivable. The Finance Manager partners closely with the Budget and Grants team, HQ Finance, and program leadership to ensure strong financial stewardship and adherence to donor and IRC requirements.

Requirements

  • Two or more college-level accounting or bookkeeping courses required; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or grants management.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting and reporting standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • High professional integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work effectively across cultures and departments.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and financial management software.
  • Proficiency in English required; bilingual ability in Spanish, Dari, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, French, or other refugee/immigrant language preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, active insurance policy, and access to reliable transportation.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a fingerprint clearance card per Arizona state law.

  • Prior experience in a non-profit or grant-funded organization strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly and quarterly donor invoicing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contractual and IRC standards.
  • Oversee core accounting activities including accounts payable, receivable, CIK processing, and financial reconciliations.
  • Review transactions for accuracy and proper coding; complete month-end and year-end closing tasks.
  • Conduct variance analyses and contribute to the preparation of accurate donor financial reports.
  • Support quarterly internal audit reviews to monitor compliance with IRC and donor requirements.
  • Partner with the Finance Director to ensure adherence to fiscal policies, internal controls, and funder regulations.
  • Supervise assigned finance staff, including setting goals, conducting performance reviews, and ensuring professional development and coaching.
  • Partner with program managers and supervisors to address financial inquiries, provide guidance, and strengthen financial accountability across departments.
  • Collaborate with the Budget and Grants team to maintain alignment between financial data and grant reporting.
  • Represent the Finance team in cross-departmental initiatives and planning meetings, ensuring finance perspectives are integrated into operational decisions.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports and invoices in line with established deadlines and requirements.
  • Review and monitor expense activity, purchase orders, and credit card transactions to ensure timely processing and compliance.
  • Contribute to the organization’s annual budgeting process and provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Support the Finance Director with special projects and additional finance-related duties as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
