About The Position

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial planning and reporting of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and its associated entities. This role ensures the integrity of the Chamber's financial operations, compliance with accounting standards, and provides financial analysis to support the organization's strategic goals. The Finance Manager supervises the Finance Assistant and collaborates closely with the President & CEO and board treasurer, contributing to the growth of the business community in Central Massachusetts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in a nonprofit or association environment.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and auditing standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and financial analysis tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support WRCC's mission and growth.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
  • Provide financial analysis and guidance to senior leadership on business strategies and decisions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee the preparation of 990 filings and other tax documentation for the WRCC and associated entities.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial, legal, and regulatory requirements, including auditing procedures and government reporting.
  • Manage cash flow, investments, and financial reserves.
  • Develop policies to mitigate financial risk and protect organizational assets.
  • Monitor and report on financial risks and opportunities to the leadership team and Board of Directors.
  • Oversee the annual audit process, including coordinating with external auditors and preparing necessary documentation.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Ensure effective management of grants and government funding.
  • Supervise and mentor the Finance Assistant, ensuring accurate data entry, bookkeeping, and account reconciliation.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance function.
  • Work closely with WRCC staff to provide financial insights and support for organizational initiatives.
  • Present financial updates to the Executive Board monthly and stakeholders as needed.
  • Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to WRCC's overall strategic direction.
