BAIN CAPITAL SPECIAL SITUATIONS OVERVIEW Bain Capital Special Situations has invested $35 billion in more than 900 deals across a balanced geographic mix of investments in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific since its founding in 2002. Our investment professionals provide bespoke capital solutions to meet the diverse needs of companies, entrepreneurs, and asset owners - in all market cycles. The strategy brings together equity and credit expertise, as well as corporate and real asset expertise, to provide solutions which cannot be met by traditional providers. Requirements

  • 6-10 years’ experience at an Investment Advisor and/or public accounting role in a rigorous environment
  • Strong ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and work under tight deadlines.
  • Self-starter with initiative. Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with capacity to interact with outside parties and personnel across all levels of the firm.
  • Ability to decipher complex legal documents
  • Dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through skills
  • Detail-oriented, conscientious and energetic professional
  • Ability to learn basic fundamentals of unique investments ranging from fund-of-funds to private investments to derivatives to physical commodities.
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Four-year college degree with a strong academic background. Major in accounting, finance or related degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • VBA, PowerBI, Alteryx, Python experience is recommended
  • CPA, CFA or equivalent qualification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Gain overall understanding of Bain Capital Special Situations business and manage team at all levels through general finance responsibilities
  • Support all portfolio management, finance and investor needs
  • Understand complex investment structures, work through tax, legal and book implications for funds
  • Strong emphasis on identifying and overseeing process improvements/advancements using automation and technology to streamline efficiency of various reporting deliverables and increase accessibility of information to other departments
  • Review of monthly returns, NAVs and capital reporting to investors
  • Review quarterly financial statements, management fee and carry calculations, as well as other deliverables for investor reporting
  • Manage year-end audit process with outside accountants and facilitate related requests
  • Work closely with deal staff and portfolio management team to address questions that arise as part of the monitoring and financial reporting process.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of asset classes owned within each fund, which may include structured capital, asset-backed positions, as well as debt and equity
  • Close collaboration with various groups within Bain Capital and outside administrators.
  • Responsible for determining the root cause of any issues encountered, determining effective solutions, and then overseeing the implementation of those solutions.
  • Assist in fundraising requests from prospective and information request from current investors
  • Frequent / Challenging / Unique Ad hoc requests.
