About The Position

The Finance Manager for the Division of Accounts at Metro Nashville Government is responsible for leading a team within the Department of Finance. This role involves overseeing property tax accounting, coordinating audits, and assisting senior accountants in managing the division's operations. The position emphasizes professional development and collaboration across various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with governmental standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • 5-6 years of professional accounting and finance experience in fiscal and/or government.
  • 3 years of managerial experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of governmental accounting/reporting principles and practices.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to direct report staff.
  • Oversee Property Tax Accounting and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Coordinate with various Metro Departments for Single Audit and GASB requirements.
  • Assist the Chief Accountant and Deputy Chief Accountant in managing operations of the Division of Accounts.
  • Review and approve monthly bank reconciliation JE entries in R12 accounting software.
  • Ensure timely and accurate cash management entries for auto reconciliation.
  • Document processes related to bank reconciliation automation.
  • Review and prepare IOD, LAW Insurance Billings.
  • Assist with ACFR tasks for Pension GASB 68 and OPEB GASB 75.
  • Review Pension and OPEB disclosures for the ACFR.
  • Coordinate with the Chief Accountant and consulting groups to produce PAFR.
  • Attend weekly managers meetings and collaborate with other managers.
  • Research and resolve finance-related questions and problems.
  • Plan and oversee departmental accounting and financial operational programs.
