About the position

We're looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone's journeys better. The role involves understanding key performance drivers of the business, pricing mechanisms, contracts, and competitive positioning within the UK&I markets. You will be responsible for variance analysis, developing reporting tools, and supporting the forecasting process. Additionally, you will work closely with the commercial and data management teams on pricing for prospects and new clients, and ensure accurate month-end closing and reporting. The position also includes leadership responsibilities, setting clear objectives with internal stakeholders, and continuous improvement initiatives to identify revenue leakages and margin improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Gain detailed understanding of key performance drivers of business, pricing mechanisms, contracts and competitive position within the UK&I markets.
  • Build a comprehensive toolbox of measures, ratios and benchmarks (Internal and External) to ensure rigor in our evaluation processes.
  • Variance analysis of actuals vs forecasts, including investigating why variances have occurred and communicating risks and opportunities.
  • Develop/Maintain weekly/monthly reporting tools to drive valuable business insights for decision making.
  • Supporting the development of effective monthly, quarterly and yearly rolling forecast process including risk-adjusted forecasting.
  • Working closely with the commercial and data management team on pricing for all prospects and new clients (ad hoc & RFPs).
  • Reviewing monthly reporting prepared by analytics and monitoring variances to Plan/Reforecast, presentation to broader Management team.
  • Perform post implementation audits to ensure actual margin is in-line with approved bid documentation.
  • Responsible for the month end closing and reporting. Ensure costs and revenue streams are correctly accounted for.
  • Responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly revenue reporting - ensuring it is accurate, timely and the variances are understood.
  • Work on projects to improve performance of the business units.
  • Agree with internal stakeholders and set clear objectives / SLA's related to reporting and analysis of sales and profitability.
  • Work with commercial, procurement, operations and the rest of the finance team to identify revenue leakages and margin improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely commercial to build models and yardsticks that can be used to complete RFPs and critique proposals.

Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or Degree level.
  • 5-8 years of extensive experience as a commercial finance manager in large FMCG companies.
  • Previous experience of managing large and complex RFPs and tenders.
  • Previous experience of improving profits and providing visibility of complex commercial models.
  • Ability to present to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of different commercial models.
  • Ability to understand customer contracts and pricing very quickly.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to analyse data and numbers to provide clarity and influence decisions.
  • Advanced level of competency in Office 365/MS Project and particularly Excel skills to enable easy extraction of data in excel and data comparison.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency with numbers and financial calculations.
  • Clear understanding of the responsibility of managing sensitive and confidential data.
  • Hands-on and proactive approach with a positive 'can do' attitude and team player.
