About The Position

The AWS Infrastructure Finance team provides end-to-end financial support, driving AWS to be the lowest cost provider in Cloud computing and leader in customer experience. We are looking for a Finance Manager to join the AWS Energy & Sustainability Finance team within the AWS Infrastructure Finance organization. The AWS Energy team is responsible for (1) Delivering Energy to AWS Data Centers, (2) Procuring Carbon-Free Energy to support our sustainability goals, and (3) Developing our Sustainability and Carbon-Free Energy Strategy. Our team provides critical support in the form of financial valuation, investment decisions, and driving the global portfolio strategy for Amazon’s Energy portfolio. We are looking for a Finance Manager to support the end-to-end energy portfolio: energy deal valuation processes, financial planning and analysis (FP&A) reporting, energy opex and capex portfolio reporting, Month End Close processes, automation support, and more. Finance provides critical valuation support, thought leadership, financial acumen and controllership, and aids in critical decision making both at the deal and portfolio level. Our team owns the financial controllership processes and FP&A reporting and consolidation that scale with the portfolio’s growth. This includes utilities opex and energy market rate forecasting, energy and water capex forecasting, new region energy rate forecast, and partnership with the stakeholder teams (business teams, accounting, and technical product teams). Our team has invested in automation functionality for month end close and financial planning process, and we continue integrating our tools and systems to allow for end-to-end automation of our portfolio reporting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Responsibilities

  • Drive the reporting for our AMER energy portfolio, supporting our sustainability goals and scaling AWS data center growth
  • Develop a deep knowledge of the energy markets that we operate in, along with the energy deals in our portfolio
  • Lead financial evaluation and analysis of complex, long-term energy agreements; develop comprehensive financial models to assess deal economics, risks, and returns; provide strategic recommendations to shape deal structures and influence go-forward energy procurement strategies while ensuring alignment with AWS's financial objectives and growth targets
  • Report on the financial performance of our Energy portfolio, and assist the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual reviews
  • Develop automated web-based tooling and reporting to support the financial reporting on our operating renewable deals, energy deals, and energy capex reporting
