About The Position

At Forj Medical we have reimagined how we engage college students. Starting in 2020, we developed the Re-Imagined Student Experience Program (RISE Program) which offers year-round internship experiences, in a variety of disciplines to enhance your education and provide hands-on work experience to help launch your career in the medical device industry.We are looking for Bachelor's degree-seeking students for a dynamic Finance Internship program. This opportunity provides hands-on experience in accounting and controllership, commercial and operational finance activities and strategic projects within our finance department. Interns will gain valuable exposure to various aspects of financial operations while developing practical skills that bridge academic concepts with real-world applications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytically minded, and eager to learn about financial processes in a collaborative business environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent academic standing
  • Demonstrated interest in finance through coursework or extracurricular activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
  • Familiarity with financial concepts and basic accounting principles
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive problem-solving approach and willingness to ask questions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Professional demeanor and strong work ethic
  • Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data visualization tools preferred but not required
  • Basic understanding of database concepts and reporting tools
  • Comfort with learning new software applications and systems

Responsibilities

  • Assist with accounts receivable processes, including invoice generation, payment tracking, and collections support
  • Support the billing team by helping prepare and distribute customer billing letters and payment notifications
  • Compile and distribute daily sales reports for review by the finance and sales teams
  • Update financial spreadsheets and databases with accurate transaction data
  • Process expense reports and assist with basic accounting entries
  • Help maintain financial filing systems and documentation
  • Create and maintain customer-specific dashboards measuring key performance indicators such as on-time-delivery metrics, cost productivity, and buying behaviors
  • Participate in inventory reporting initiatives, helping to track stock levels, turnover rates, and valuation
  • Contribute to master data clean-up projects to improve data integrity across financial systems
  • Assist in developing financial analysis tools that highlight business trends and opportunities – specifically looking at vendor spend rates and opportunities for optimization
  • Support month-end close processes by preparing reconciliations and basic financial reports
  • Help compile data for financial business reviews and financial presentations
  • Shadow finance professionals across different functional areas (AR/AP, FP&A, controllership, etc.)
  • Participate in educational sessions about finance principles, tools, and methodologies
  • Attend relevant department meetings to understand how finance supports broader business objectives
  • Complete a capstone project addressing a specific business challenge or process improvement
  • Receive regular feedback and coaching from finance team members
  • Document learning experiences and prepare an end-of-internship presentation
