Gardner Health Services is currently recruiting to fill the position of Finance Director. This is a full-time position based out of the Gardner Health Services Corporate Office located at 160 E Virginia Street, San Jose, CA 95112. Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Finance Director is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of Gardner Health Services’ Primary Care and Behavioral Health divisions. This position provides leadership and supervision to both division Controllers, ensuring consistent, compliant, and effective financial management practices across the organization. The Finance Director plays a critical role in budget development, financial reporting, compliance with FQHC and HRSA requirements, and implementation of best practices to support organizational sustainability.

  • Manage and oversee the financial operations of the Primary Care and Behavioral Health divisions.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to division Controllers.
  • Ensure consistent, compliant, and effective financial management practices.
  • Play a critical role in budget development.
  • Oversee financial reporting and compliance with FQHC and HRSA requirements.
  • Implement best practices to support organizational sustainability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible finance/accounting experience.
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), community health center, or nonprofit healthcare environment strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medi-Cal/Medicare reimbursement principles and HRSA requirements.
  • Experience managing budgets, audits, and financial reporting for multi-division or multi-entity organizations.
