About The Position

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Finance Applications Analyst. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices and consideration given for 100% remote US locations. The Finance Applications Analyst will have an active role ensuring that our core financial application, Aderant, as well as other finance managed applications, are performing in accordance with the firm’s requirements. This role entails collaborating with team members and application users to provide support and resolve issues that arise in the normal course of work. Primary tasks include assisting with daily and monthly processing, software version upgrades and related tasks, firm projects related to finance, and supporting end users and their workflow requirements to provide an efficient and effective user experience. Assist with the month-end and year-end financial close including scheduling and communications, assessing the current period environment for potential issues, running validation scripts, balancing ledgers, importing data files and resolving issues during closing. Year-end tasks also include setting up Orrick holidays and applying business day allocation factors, etc. Assist with the management of scheduled updates for nightly, month-end and other processes including the maintenance of documentation for the nightly data build and update process and for the month-end and year-end financial close. Perform assigned tasks related to Aderant upgrades and the rollout of new Aderant features. Tasks include ascertaining the scope and impact of the upgrade, assisting with the evaluation of the risks and rewards of an upgrade including known issues and bugs, issues with the current production version, and other relevant factors requiring consideration when assessing the need and timing of an Aderant upgrade. Perform assigned tasks related to the rollout, upgrade, or maintenance of other finance supported applications including BPC, Intellistat and Vena. Actively monitor, assist, and support end-user testing throughout the testing phases of all software upgrades. Verify that end-user testing has been completed, and known issues have been resolved so that the upgrade can be moved from the test to a production environment with confidence that the software is ready for deployment. Develop end user solutions within the Aderant Expert modules including interface customizations and scripting procedures for managing the flow of data. Actively participate in firm projects involving the integration of applications with Aderant software. Assist with the development and maintenance of electronic templates, forms and workflows, including bills and collection statements. Ensure adherence to Orrick’s security policy as defined by risk management, information technology, and established finance internal control policies. Communicate deviations from such policies or best practices to leadership immediately upon discovery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting/Finance, Computer Science, Business, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience relevant experience.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders across the firm, including senior management.
  • Must have the flexibility to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in quality assurance testing of financial applications solutions.
  • Ability to work independently on tasks/projects while communicating status updates to manager.
  • Assume a lead role during calls or for projects as required.
  • Strong project management, fact gathering, and prioritization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a professional services firm is preferred.
  • Previous experience with the Aderant Expert Financial Management System and DocuDraft development is preferred. Aderant-specific design and development experience is preferred.
