About The Position

The Finance and Grant Specialist / Senior Finance and Grant Specialist position at the University of Colorado Boulder involves providing comprehensive financial management and grant assistance within the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. The role includes supporting Principal Investigators (PIs) with sponsored projects, managing contracts and grants, and ensuring compliance with university and federal regulations. The Senior Specialist will take on more complex tasks and lead others, serving as a backup for the Finance Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• One or more years of relevant experience for Finance and Grant Specialist.
• Three or more years of relevant experience for Senior Finance and Grant Specialist.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial management and primary point of contact for sponsored projects for assigned faculty and research groups.
• Perform project budget oversight, including monitoring transactions and preparing budget revisions.
• Manage post-award tasks such as purchasing, preparing reports, and aiding in award closeout processes.
• Assist with proposal and award advisement, including budget preparation for grant applications.
• Lead sponsored project closeout procedures and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Manage ePer Certification process and train research groups on compliance.
• Conduct standard accounting functions to support budget and expense activities.
• Prepare and submit travel expense reimbursement reports and ensure compliance with fund types.
• Purchase goods and services, ensuring compliance and appropriate documentation.
• Assist in developing department finance policies and procedures.
