About the position

The Finance/Accounting Intern position at TxDOT's Financial Management Division offers an entry-level opportunity for students to gain practical experience in financial and business services. Interns will support various administrative and technical tasks, contributing to the division's operations while enjoying a hybrid work schedule and a supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop spreadsheets, databases, and other electronic documents.
  • Assist with validating project funding and data analysis.
  • Review construction agreements and reconcile various funding sources and project expenditures.
  • Gather basic data and assist with routine analyses.
  • Maintain confidential information and records.
  • Process routine documents such as vouchers, journal entries, and reimbursement requests.
  • Maintain files, records, and logs.
  • Perform preliminary research on assignments and gather pertinent data.
  • Conduct routine word processing duties and quality checks of documents created.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age and currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, etc. highly preferred.
  • Technical skills using Microsoft 365 (Teams, Planner, SharePoint, etc.), Peoplesoft, Quickbooks, Tableau, etc.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to protect sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work successfully from a remote location.
