About The Position

The Finance Accountant II (Temp Hourly) role is focused on maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations within the City of Corpus Christi. This position involves overseeing incoming payments, ensuring revenue security, preparing invoices, and executing day-to-day financial transactions. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills to address discrepancies in billing and resolve customer issues promptly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective verbal, listening, written communication skills.
  • Time management skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Infor or similar financial software.
  • Familiarity with GovOs software for hotel/motel accounts receivables.

Responsibilities

  • Working with other City Departments and outside agencies to gather and maintain accuracy on information for billing various account types.
  • Reviewing data to ensure accurate entry into Infor by account and charge code.
  • Processing and reviewing billing registers to identify discrepancies and ensure account accuracy.
  • Updating charges in Infor and printing invoices/statements for annual billing of approximately $80M.
  • Maintaining an accurate aging report and resolving collections by examining customer payment plans and history.
  • Developing and automating spreadsheets for financial management and analysis as requested.
  • Compiling reports on delinquent accounts for management review and maintaining confidentiality of client information.
  • Reviewing each invoice/statement for accuracy and processing all invoices/statements.
  • Generating lien reports and submitting requests for liens to the Finance Assistant Director.
  • Processing pay-off requests and managing collection accounts turned over to external agencies.
  • Researching accounts through Infor and other resources to verify ownership and lien status.
  • Maintaining and reconciling hotel/motel accounts receivables processed by GovOs software.
