As a Final Test Technician II, you’ll play a key role in ensuring every instrument that leaves our facility meets the highest standards of accuracy, reliability, and performance. This is a hands-on, technically challenging role where your expertise directly contributes to the quality of data used by scientists, environmental agencies, and research institutions around the world. You’ll report to the Final Test & Calibration Supervisor and serve as a technical resource within the team, supporting complex testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts while mentoring junior technicians. This position is part of the Final Test department located in Bellevue, Washington and is on-site.

Requirements

  • A 2‑year technical degree plus relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and hands‑on work.
  • 3–5 years of electrical and/or mechanical experience in manufacturing, testing, calibration, or production environments.
  • Strong proficiency with hand tools, power tools, test jigs, fixtures, voltmeters, ohmmeters, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Advanced electro‑mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and engineering documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting process improvements or equipment optimization is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced Instrument Testing & Evaluation Perform complex testing and calibration of oceanographic instruments measuring salinity, temperature, pressure, dissolved oxygen, fluorescence, and more. Independently analyze test data, identify anomalies, and determine corrective actions. Troubleshoot electro‑mechanical, electronic, and mechanical issues to root cause.
  • Manufacturing & Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with manufacturing standards, SOPs, engineering drawings, and work orders. Execute advanced set‑ups, modifications, calibrations, and verification of test equipment and fixtures. Identify recurring issues or process gaps and contribute to corrective and preventive actions.
  • Equipment & Process Expertise Set up, operate, and troubleshoot automatic and semi‑automatic equipment in a continuous production environment. Install, modify, repair, dismantle, and validate machinery and test systems using documentation and blueprints. Assemble, test, and verify complex sub‑assemblies and final assemblies using a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Collaboration, Mentorship & Continuous Improvement Partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Final Test leadership to resolve technical challenges. Provide guidance and informal mentoring to Technician I team members. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, safety, and product quality. Clearly communicate status updates, risks, and improvement opportunities to the Final Test Supervisor.
