About The Position

As a Final Mile Driver, you will be responsible for the local pickup, transportation, and delivery of freight, excluding hazardous materials, using a non CDL-A vehicle. This role emphasizes the safe and timely movement of freight from its origin to its destination. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Have the ability to satisfactorily pass background check and alcohol and drug test.
  • Have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Have at least 6 months of driving experience, to include a personal motor vehicle.
  • Be willing to enter Southeastern’s Driver Trainee Program after successfully completing one year in the Final Mile Driver role.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up, transport, and deliver freight locally in a non CDL-A vehicle, not to include hazardous materials.
  • Ensure the safe and timely transportation of freight from origin to destination.
  • Load and unload shipments, either individually or with assistance, with or without mechanical freight handling equipment.
  • Perform frequent lifting, pulling and carrying of freight.
  • Inspect vehicle for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips.
  • Submit a written Vehicle Condition Report on the condition of the vehicle at the end of each trip.
  • Check shipping papers to determine the nature of load to ensure hazardous materials are not present.
  • Ensure all shipping documentation (e.g. manifest, security seal sheet, bills of lading, shipping orders, freight bills, etc.) required to move with shipments is available for inspection.
  • Ensure appropriate paperwork accompany shipment when delivered.
  • Properly handle and complete all necessary paperwork related to vehicle operations and freight movements.
