The FinOps Consultant is responsible for the development and delivery of FinOps services to SHI customers. This is a customer-facing role. Typical responsibilities for the FinOps consultant include development of models for FinOps analysis and reporting, data analysis and recommendations, enablement, and presales engagements. The role requires a strong understanding of cloud and technology resources, critical thinking, data analysis, and the FinOps Framework. Daily activities include: assisting customers with FinOps strategies, use of FinOps platforms, use of cloud native tooling, building complex analysis and reporting in Excel, implementing automation, project management, technical and financial analysis, customer and internal meetings, and mentoring and assisting teammates.

  • Serve as the designated technical delivery resource and subject matter expert on FinOps customer projects, collaborating with others, facilitate customer meetings, and being accountable for the outcome of the project
  • Assist the sales team in identifying, scoping, and closing opportunities, leveraging research, customer meetings, reporting, presentations, and delivery of FinOps services
  • Delivery of FinOps services - spend visibility, cost allocation, shared cost, charge back/show back, forecasting, budgeting, data analysis, resource utilization & efficiency, resource optimization, reporting data and recommendations, measuring unit costs, commitment-based discounts, cloud cost governance, anomaly detection, automation, and FinOps education & enablement of AWS, Azure, GCP, hybrid, and other public cloud environments
  • Research, development, implementation, and troubleshooting of novel and creative strategies for cloud optimization and cloud governance
  • Develop relevant automation, documentation, processes, and standardization of FinOps solutions and culture within both customers’ organizations and SHI
  • Bachelor’s degree in computing, finance, data analytics, engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 1-year Professional FinOps experience
  • 1 year of technical, financial, data analytic, or technical presales experience with increasing responsibility
  • 2 years intensive experience using Microsoft Excel to organize, analyze, and report large data sets
  • Core understanding of Cloud and Hybrid infrastructure, best practices, governance, and automation
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Certifications: At least one of the following: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), and/or GCP Cloud Digital Leader
  • An Associate Level Certification or higher in AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred prior to hiring and required by day 90 as a requirement of role
  • Qualifying Certifications are as follows: AWS – AWS Solution Architect – Associate, AWS Developer – Associate, AWS SysOps Administrator – Associate, or AWS Solution Architect – Professional; Azure – Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ104), Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204), or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305); GCP – Cloud Engineer-Associate, Cloud Architect-Professional, or Cloud Developer-Professional
