The Office of Admissions at the University of Virginia School of Law seeks a part-time, seasonal admissions file reader. File readers focus on the holistic review of first-year applications for admission to the Law School's J.D. program. Admissions file readers assist the assistant dean for admissions and the directors of admission in analyzing the qualifications of prospective students by summarizing application components and submitting recommendations through an electronic file management system. Readers must exercise excellent judgment in the evaluation of files, and they are required to protect the confidentiality of all applicant data and information learned in the course of admissions office training sessions. Readers perform all work remotely and therefore must have access to high-speed internet. Readers are expected to communicate regularly with the Admissions Office via email, primarily with the chief admissions officer and the associate director of admissions. The duration of the assignment is for the 2025-2026 admissions cycle: August 2025 through April 2026, subject to annual renewal depending on job performance and the admissions office's needs.
