About The Position

The File Clerk will support the firm’s legal teams by maintaining organized, efficient, and secure filing in the electronic platforms. The position will also include retrieving pleadings from court dockets, assisting with electronic filings in state and federal courts, and providing backup and overflow support to the Calendar Coordinator. Duties and Responsibilities Maintain filing systems and evaluate documents for proper categorization and storage Sort, classify, and file records, legal documents, and correspondence using established naming conventions and folder structures OCR, rename, and save all incoming documents in accordance with firm protocols Retrieve pleadings, motions, and filings from federal and state court systems (e.g., PACER and state e-filing platforms) and distribute to case teams Assist with e-filing legal documents in state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional rules and deadlines Review documents for accuracy, completeness, and proper formatting prior to filing or distribution Handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with firm policies and applicable regulations Provide backup and overflow support to the Calendar Coordinator, including entering deadlines, tracking court dates, and maintaining docket accuracy Identify opportunities to improve filing systems and workflows; design and implement forms, templates, and organizational tools as needed Update and maintain filing systems; recommend and implement enhancements to document storage and retrieval processes Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred 1+ years’ experience in a law firm handling civil litigation court filings Familiarity with court docket systems (e.g., PACER, state court portals) and e-filing procedures is a plus Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1+ years’ experience in a law firm handling civil litigation court filings
  • Familiarity with court docket systems (e.g., PACER, state court portals) and e-filing procedures is a plus
