About The Position

The 5th Grade Classroom Teacher is responsible for creating an engaging, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment. The teacher plans, delivers, and assesses instruction that aligns with curriculum standards while nurturing the intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of each student. This role requires strong communication skills, a commitment to student success, and a collaborative approach with colleagues, families, and school leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
  • Valid state teaching certification in elementary education.
  • Demonstrated ability to design effective instruction and manage a classroom with skill and consistency.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student growth, equity, and the needs of diverse learners.
  • Willingness to support and model Catholic values and the school’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement standards‑aligned lessons in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the varied learning needs, abilities, and styles of students.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and guide instructional decisions.
  • Integrate technology, hands‑on learning, and inquiry‑based activities to enhance student engagement.
  • Provide clear learning objectives, structure, and academic expectations.
  • Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Implement effective behavior‑management strategies that promote responsibility, cooperation, and self‑discipline.
  • Establish consistent routines, expectations, and classroom procedures to support student success.
  • Foster curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning through engaging and relevant instruction.
  • Provide academic, social, and emotional support to students as needed.
  • Encourage goal‑setting, reflection, and celebration of student growth and accomplishments.
  • Maintain consistent and positive communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
  • Participate in parent‑teacher conferences, school meetings, and community events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to ensure alignment in instructional practices and school initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, including attendance, grades, and assessment data.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance instructional skills and remain informed about educational best practices.
  • Uphold all school and Archdiocesan policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Contribute positively to the school community through collaboration, professionalism, and service.
