About The Position

The Field Trip Driver position at Rockford Public School District #205 involves providing bus transportation for field trips and athletic events under the supervision of the Field Supervisor and Terminal Manager. The role requires ensuring safety and order on the bus, performing pre-trip inspections, and maintaining the cleanliness and care of the bus. The position does not offer benefits and is compensated at a rate of $20.25 - $22.25 per hour.

Requirements

• Commercial CDL license with all necessary endorsements to drive the school bus.
• Basic reading and math skills.
• Good vision and hearing.

Responsibilities

• Transport students on field trips and athletic events.
• Ensure adherence to safety rules and explain regulations to students.
• Complete disciplinary reports for students who do not respond to disciplinary actions.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections of the bus as mandated by the State.
• Report all accidents, mechanical problems, and hazardous conditions immediately.
• Maintain the care, cleanliness, and gassing of the bus.
• Attend training courses and meetings to increase skills related to transportation.
• Prepare reports and maintain records as requested.
