About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Field Testing Technician Level II to join our Field Testing team in York, Pennsylvania. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the building enclosure testing industry. The Field Technician will support the Building and Construction business by leading a crew and managing projects that involve field testing. This position provides opportunities for growth and development within the department and company, with on-the-job training provided. The job requires travel most weeks, including overnight stays, and employees are paid for all travel time.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in commercial construction, building envelope or fenestration
  • Ability to learn about building envelope systems and their installation means and methods
  • Working knowledge of test methods and standards associated with testing of these systems
  • Aptitude for working independently and leading a crew on assigned projects
  • Technical competency and effective communication skills with customers and co-workers
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Good computer skills - Microsoft Office & Outlook
  • Ability to perform work from ladders, boom-lifts, roof levels, etc.
  • Ability to routinely lift a minimum of 50 pounds and perform physical tasks
  • Willingness to travel (locally and/or overnight) 75% of the time or more
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record

Responsibilities

  • Lead field testing projects, data collection and report writing
  • Set up for testing including rough carpentry work to construct test chambers
  • Run equipment on the interior of buildings and work with customers during testing
  • Operate high reach lift equipment (boom lifts, supported and suspended scaffolding)
  • Assist with forensic investigations of building envelope failures
  • Communicate with clients and project team regarding site observations and test preparation
  • Provide project planning on site for needed elements such as water, electricity, and access
  • Perform physical work relevant to areas of responsibility
