About The Position

The Field Testing Supervisor will assist with the supervision, review and testing of substation and renewable energy project testing scopes. CSI Electrical Contractor’s Inc’s engagement in renewable energy and battery storage projects require a variety of testing and commissioning related activities to be performed. This work entails reviewing scope and responsibility documents, helping direct site testing personnel on testing work, verification of test results, development and review of procedures, and site support. Qualified individuals will assist with quality assurance checking, specification writing, standards development, factory acceptance testing, testing, integration, and commissioning support at project sites. Requirements

  • Possess a minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • A vocational degree in electronics/computer/networks is preferred.
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of related work experience as a Testing Technician ()
  • Relevant EHS, OSHA 10 hour, and LOTO training.
  • () This can be a combination of trade and relevant work experience.
  • Proactive attitude, showing initiative and the ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude in stressful situations and adapt to changing job requirements.
  • Performs moderately complex tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite of products, BlueBeam, and other web-based software applications.
  • Experienced with using relay software such as SEL AcSELerator Quickset and GE.
  • Experienced in reviewing test results for completeness and verifying passing or failing results.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Frequently works outdoors on uneven surfaces.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • May be required to stoop, bend, and crouch.
  • Ability to travel around 50% of the time.
  • Works in a climate-controlled environment about 50% of the time.
  • When in the field, may work in varying weather conditions: hot, cold, and wet conditions.
  • When in the field, may work in areas with large industrial equipment subject to high noise levels.
  • May work in and around areas with high, medium, and low voltages.
  • May occasionally work in areas with hazardous chemicals.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer competency with electrical systems at all levels, experience with Utility-scale solar/PV and/or Commercial scale renewable EPC projects, independent engineering and nuances of design, and analysis of operational project data and performance is a plus.
  • Positive and supportive attitude, showing customer focus and the ability to work with and support both office and field teams.
  • Basic understanding of discipline specific technical designs, engineering principles, business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Has experience with Solmetric, Omicron, Doble, Megger and other test set manufacturers equipment.
  • Has experience with troubleshooting events in a PV, BESS and substation environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing project onsite leadership for testing and commissioning activities, helps escalate and resolve issues, and makes decisions regarding day-to-day operations to ensure safety and profitable results.
  • Responsible for assisting with LOTO.
  • Responsible for working with and/or managing subcontractors in all aspects required by the assigned project. This includes helping to identify tasks & goals, assigning responsibilities, and holding to their accountability.
  • Responsible for planning daily activities for all people and processes under their responsibility.
  • Work directly with project teams reviewing design documents and deliverables (drawings, scopes, etc.) for systems and components related to the substation and renewable energy SCADA systems.
  • Provide oversight, direction, and support to field crews as projects are being constructed and tested.
  • Duties include creating a site commissioning plan, reviewing procedures, creating procedures, directing testing with onsite testing manager, reviewing and approving testing results.
  • Supports commissioning activities for Substation, PV Array, and BESS on multiple projects.
  • Assist field personnel in resolving unanticipated site issues and conditions.
  • Review equipment vendor drawings on major equipment from manufacturers.
  • Provide support for proposals, estimating, procurement and construction.
  • Provide engineering review of internal and external design documents and submittals.
  • Review and ensure scopes align with our customer requirements, applicable industry codes, standards, and best industry practices
  • Verify that the designs that are constructed agree with the electrical engineering design drawings, including preparatory meetings, and QA/QC.
  • Works independently with direction from Testing and Commissioning Engineering Manager.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, Project Managers, Project Engineers, to successfully drive the delivery projects on time and safely.
  • Provides technical support to personnel/cross functional teams supporting the assigned projects.
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with clients and other stakeholders to review schedule and progress.
  • Coordinate with Construction Manager, Field Superintendent, General Foreman, Foremen and Project Manager, to provide schedule and progress updates.
