Responsibilities & Expectations: IPS is looking for an experienced Field Tester and Inspector to perform complex operations, record keeping, assist with quotations, assembly/disassembly of large electric motors, repairing components per technical instructions, reassembling and testing large-sized DC armatures, AC stators and rotors, etc. with minimal supervision. Requirements

  • Must have at least 3 years of experience operating a vehicle with a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-5 years experience winding AC and/or DC motor components from 200HP to 10,000HP+
  • Possess/able to obtain a MSHA certificate and work at customer sites in compliance with stated requirements (IPS sponsored training as necessary)
  • Able to read and interpret winding connection drawings
  • Experience winding field coils
  • Able to drive/travel and complete overnight stays
  • Good mechanical skills
  • Able to pass a respirator fit test
  • Able to qualify with solder connections

Nice To Haves

  • Hydro-electric experience highly desired

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex operations such as measuring, electrical testing, repairing, reassembling and testing large DC armatures, AC stators and rotors, and repair/replace brush holders, etc.
  • Progress updates/reporting to technical specialists, senior management, and/or cutomers
  • Performs related duties as assigned such as assisting on the larger or more complicated units.
  • May dismantle and repair commutators and collector rings as well as to band rotating equipment
  • Able to lead work crews and direct tasks to others
  • Able to mobilize on short notice for field repairs
  • May be required to work overtime, various shifts, holidays and weekends
  • Must be able to drive/fly to job sites (>20% actual)
  • Able to paint repaired motors
