About The Position
The Field Technician position within the Public Works Department of the City of Cape Coral is a full-time role focused on the maintenance and repair of utilities, stormwater, and transportation infrastructure. This position is essential for ensuring the proper functioning of the city's water, sewer, and irrigation systems. The technician will engage in semi-skilled manual labor and limited technical work, which includes the installation and maintenance of various municipal properties. The role requires a proactive approach to maintaining the city's infrastructure, ensuring that all work is performed to the highest standards of safety and efficiency. As part of the Public Works team, the Field Technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of stormwater infrastructure, such as catch basins, swales, pipes, outfalls, weirs, and canals. Additionally, the technician will work on transportation infrastructure, which includes curbs, gutters, sidewalks, streetlights, signs, pavement, and landscaping. The position demands a strong understanding of municipal water and irrigation systems, as well as the ability to effectively use tools and maintenance equipment. The technician will also be responsible for ensuring that the assigned city vehicle is properly stocked and that all equipment and supplies are functioning correctly. Daily work orders will guide the preparation of work sites, and the technician will be expected to perform other related duties as required. This role is vital for maintaining the quality of life for residents in Cape Coral, as it directly impacts the functionality and safety of public infrastructure.
