Requirements

  • US Army Master Gunner Certification.
  • Must have working knowledge of tank firing range operations including safety protocol.
  • Must be knowledgeable in planning, development, execution and management of brigade level training exercises.
  • 3-5 years of related work experience required; instructor/training experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior military or GDLS operation instructions, lesson plan/POI development and execution of an instructor and field support actions are preferred.
  • Strong Abrams Tank Advanced experience, instructor qualification preferred.
  • Must pass the US Government Platform certification.
  • Must be a US person.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (both verbally & written) and interact with internal & external customers/clients.
  • Must have an overall understanding of customer contacts and relationships.
  • Ability to operate in a team and cross-functional environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Ability to learn GDLS processes, products, and military technology.
  • Ability to contribute to the problem-solving process.
  • Must be able to meet the anthropometric size restriction (ASR) in the Standard Practice 2-644.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructions on the performance of operator level maintenance to include, but not limited to troubleshooting of the M1 Abrams series tank, and recognizing malfunctions and taking minor corrective action.
  • Provide input and support to program planning, schedules, lesson plans, program instructions and maintenance techniques for the development and execution of the assigned Master Gunner Course.
  • Prepare and present classes supporting the scheduled Program of Instruction for the Master Gunner Course.
  • A solid understanding and knowledge of Abrams organizational maintenance tasks, procedures and processes.
  • Assist in administering performance examination and evaluation of students.
  • Required to train according to the doctrine and lesson plans contained in the M1A1 and M1A2SEP.
  • Must be physically able to perform all the technical manual tasks required of a M1 Abrams series tank instructor, and/or tank crewman including PMCS procedures and 10 technical manual corrective actions on an Abrams tank.
