Job Summary This role requires a combination of hands-on technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance while completing maintenance & repairs of the assigned water/ wastewater systems. The Field Technician plays an important role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of water and wastewater treatment processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records are required
  • 1-3 years of experience with water and/ or wastewater systems, maintenance or servicing industry preferred
  • Ability to work independently & travel as needed throughout the southeast to various project sites
  • Ability to understand water systems and concepts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be available to work weekends, overtime and ‘on-call’ as needed

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on water/wastewater treatment equipment and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with pumps, valves, conveyors, and other mechanical components.
  • Conduct repairs and replacements as necessary to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Install and set up new equipment in water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Fabricate parts and components using various materials and tools.
  • Conduct welding tasks to repair or create structural elements for the treatment plant.
  • Ensure that all fabricated components meet industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Record and report findings, recommending adjustments or replacements as needed.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations such as equipment failures or system malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
  • Document calibration procedures, inspection results, and any changes made to the system.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards promptly.
  • Participate in safety training programs and promote a culture of safety among colleagues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, and other technicians.
  • Communicate effectively with plant personnel to coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Stay informed about advancements in water/wastewater treatment technology.
  • Make recommendations for upgrades and improvements to enhance overall plant performance.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.
  • Stay informed about changes in regulations affecting water/wastewater treatment.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory reports as necessary.
