About The Position

Field Technician level I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of in-home telephone and broadband systems. This role requires working both inside and outside homes and businesses, performing tasks such as pulling and terminating cables, conducting installations, and testing equipment to ensure service quality.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications systems.
  • Familiarity with broadband testing equipment and hand tools.
  • Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to operate a Phone, PC, or Laptop.
  • Current and valid driver’s license is required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test telephone and broadband systems within homes and businesses.
  • Repair copper and fiber issues in the home and perform installation prework.
  • Pull, run, and terminate cables (Cat5, coaxial, twisted pair, optical fiber) in attics, crawlspaces, walls, and other areas.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve broadband and telephone service issues using test equipment (Layer 1 copper test set, broadband test sets).
  • Isolate and repair mainline issues in copper, including splicing. Isolate some fiber mainline issues.
  • Provide preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs as needed.
  • Conduct cable splicing and ensure familiarity with color codes for fiber and telephone cables.
  • Subject to on-call
  • Pole Climbing certified and/or training will be required.
  • DC Plant maintenance
