About The Position
Lumen is seeking a dedicated Field Technician I to join our team in Weehawken, NJ. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of our network and ensuring seamless service delivery to our customers. The Field Technician will be responsible for asset management, which includes processing deliveries, replenishing consumables, and coordinating the shipping and receiving of materials. The technician will also maintain tools, test sets, and electronic equipment, including fiber optic transmission equipment and lightwave multiplexing equipment. This position involves assisting in the installation, provisioning, testing, and maintenance of DS through OC192 services, as well as troubleshooting network equipment and ensuring the proper functioning of critical infrastructure such as HVAC systems and high-voltage electrical systems. In this role, the technician will be expected to proactively monitor and locate routes, assisting in executing restoration efforts in the event of service interruptions. The technician will also be responsible for learning all necessary systems and applications to perform job functions effectively. This includes updating installation records, entering detailed log information on trouble tickets, and providing status updates to management regarding assignments. Preventive and scheduled maintenance on equipment will also be a key responsibility, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and that any potential issues are addressed before they escalate. The position requires a commitment to safety and cleanliness on-site, as well as the ability to work in various weather conditions. The technician will be on-call 24/7 on a rotational basis, which may include standby, call-out, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
