About The Position

The Technical Support Specialist - Rotary Drills position is responsible for investigating and resolving product issues by working with the Product Engineering group, troubleshooting and diagnosing complex field issues for rotary drill mining equipment. Work closely with our frontline team to introduce new mining drill unit products, assist with commissioning and deliver all the necessary training for the drill.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering and two (2) years of experience as Field Service Technician, Field Technician, Field Technical Support or Service Engineer.
  • Alternatively, we will accept no degree and three (3) years of experience as Field Service Technician, Field Technician, Field Technical Support or Service Engineer.
  • The two (2) years of experience (with degree) or three (3) years of experience (no degree) must have included performing in-field diagnostic troubleshooting, testing, modification and calibration of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical features for surface mining rotary drills.
  • Up to 30% domestic and international travel required

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical engineering support for new and existing rotary drill mining equipment.
  • Perform in-field diagnostic troubleshooting of mechanical and technical issues, including repairs, modification, installation of new parts and assemblies for surface mining rotary drills and related hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Provide operator and maintenance training.
  • Complete software installations, calibrations and configuration for target rotary drill rigs.
  • Determine functionality within drill rig control hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical system systems.
  • Analyze the impact of parameter changes on drill functionalities within the control systems.
  • Support new product development projects for automated rotary blasthole drill rigs used for surface mining.
  • Provide input into the design and development process, including in-field observations and feedback regarding machine functionality and start-up testing.
  • Provide input regarding equipment performance necessary for machine build-out, start-up, and factory acceptance testing.
  • Provide technical application support for commissioning and adaptation of drill rig equipment at the customer mine site, including drilling trials.
  • Optimize mining operator performance and provide field trials expertise, training, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide service training courses on related surface drilling equipment for customers, dealers, and sales area staff.
  • Provide technical advice and remedy issues with parts, units, components, and systems.
  • Recommend changes to engineering team and provide accurate documentation and timely follow-up on outstanding issues
