About The Position

Hardman Signs is a national leader in architectural signage and graphics. We design, manufacture, install, and service high-impact signage solutions for commercial properties, multi-family housing, healthcare facilities, parking garages, and more. We partner with leading construction companies and architectural design firms to bring signage visions to life—from concept to installation. We are seeking a versatile, self-reliant Field Surveyor to act as the critical link between our Sales and Production departments. This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive site audits across the country and providing technical support or supervision during the installation phase. The ideal candidate possesses a strong construction background, is comfortable with heavy equipment at significant heights, and has the communication skills to translate field variables into actionable data for our manufacturing team.

Requirements

  • Experience: Proven background in construction is required. Specific experience in the signage industry and a working knowledge of signage equipment (cranes, lifts, etc.) is highly preferred.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel out-of-state up to 2 weeks per month is REQUIRED. Daily travel within the Houston, San Antonio, and Austin triangle is expected.
  • Technical Skills: Must be computer literate and capable of using mobile technology for field reporting.
  • Certifications: Ability and willingness to become equipment certified (Boom, Scissor, Swing Stage) is required.
  • Physical Proficiency: Must be comfortable and effective working in equipment at significant heights.

Responsibilities

  • Site Audits & Surveying: Conduct detailed surveys of new and existing projects for signage nationwide. Capture precise measurements, identify structural mounting points, and document electrical access.
  • Sales & Production Liaison: Use onsite knowledge to identify variables and obstacles our installers will face. Communicate these findings clearly to Sales and Production to ensure accurate estimating and fabrication.
  • Installation Support: Assist lead installers in completing high-priority projects or provide onsite supervision to ensure work meets Hardman’s quality and safety standards.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate boom lifts, scissor lifts, cranes, and swing stages. Ensure all work performed at heights is executed following strict safety protocols.
  • Project Documentation: Maintain organized records and utilize digital tools to upload survey photos and data for home-office review.
