About The Position

The Field Support Technician at Texas State Technical College System is responsible for providing in-person and remote technical support to various campuses. This role focuses on delivering high-quality service to prominent clients, ensuring quick response times and effective troubleshooting for their IT needs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Information Technology preferred.
  • 2 years of responsibility for on-site technical support.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and organize multiple requests in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to balance and prioritize requests from multiple people.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or ITIL Foundations certifications are a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with server maintenance or break/fix repairs during evening or weekend hours.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity with stakeholders and clients.
  • Provide in-person and remote support to TSTC campuses, specializing in high-touch care for prominent clients.
  • Offer configuration guidelines for Windows PC, Tablet, and Mac systems, and perform break/fix repairs for select clients.
  • Track and record all activities, including symptom & solution history, billable hours, equipment & supplies, and mileage.
  • Assist clients in learning how to submit support requests via a web-based user interface.
  • Contribute input to knowledge base articles related to troubleshooting and support of the client environment.
  • Provide on-call support as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
