About The Position

The Transportation Field Supervisor will serve as the frontline supervisor of the employees assigned to their campuses and will be responsible for all safety issues that pertain to their school and the drivers on those campuses. All employees of Spring ISD are expected to be service-oriented, relationship-centered and outcome-driven. They are required to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, champion the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED from an accredited institution
  • Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class A or B) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
  • Texas School Bus Driver’s Certification
  • Minimum two (2) years as a school bus driver in a Texas public school district
  • Direct and schedule personnel
  • Excellent attitude and student management skills
  • Motivate, train, and mentor employees
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Good clerical and computer skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of all phases of student transportation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) Supervisor Certification
  • Knowledge and experience with Spring ISD district boundaries

Responsibilities

  • Manage and evaluate employees assigned to their specific campuses
  • Effectively respond to Stakeholder concerns with guidance from administrators.
  • Make operational decisions utilizing collaboration and industry best practices
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with direct reports
  • Mentor and coach employees to constantly improve job performance
  • Monitor assigned employees’ payroll to ensure proper documentation of overtime, absences, etc.
  • Work with school officials to create school bus safety programs and safety incentives for the students.
  • Oversee safe loading and unloading procedures at the schools.
  • Ensure all drivers have seating charts for elementary and middle school students on file at Transportation with copies attached to a master folder and accident procedure packets.
  • Ensure their drivers complete state counts correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Routing team to collect and track all data for state counts.
  • Assess routes, driving directions, stop locations for hazardous areas, parent concerns etc. and provide recommendations to the Routing Team.
  • Spot check master map folders to make certain maps are kept up to date and marked with the correct stops.
  • Screen and interview applicants.
  • Spot checks buses for cleanliness.
  • Monitor staff to ensure they are completing pre-trip inspections and following all district procedures and industry best practices
  • Assist with beginning and end of the year activities, Hiring events, graduations, committee activities, etc.
  • Substitutes on routes as needed.
  • Work flexible and prolonged hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Adhere to established routes and schedules as assigned, arrange appointments and personal business so as not to interfere with scheduled duties
  • Actively work to foster an atmosphere of trust within the department
  • Conduct monthly professional development meetings with their team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
