About The Position

The Superintendent is responsible for managing and coordinating all on-site construction activities for retail projects, including Elford crews and subcontractors. This role requires a strong field presence, consistent communication, and the ability to deliver fast-paced retail projects safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. This is a traveling position supporting projects throughout Ohio.

Requirements

  • Trade school, apprenticeship program, Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of construction experience, including at least 5 years in a Superintendent or Foreman role
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage fast-paced, schedule-driven retail projects
  • Excellent planning, organization, and prioritization abilities
  • Comfortable working with field technology and basic computer systems
  • Ability to influence teams and subcontractors to achieve results
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel throughout Ohio
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous professional development

Nice To Haves

  • Retail construction experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily on-site construction operations, supervising Elford field staff, subcontractors, and on-site support personnel
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with owners, design teams, subcontractors, and internal leadership
  • Ensure all work is performed in strict compliance with project plans, specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Drive project schedules, sequencing work to meet aggressive retail timelines and turnover dates
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, permits, site logistics, materials, equipment, and manpower
  • Enforce quality control standards and oversee correction of any deficient or non-conforming work
  • Review subcontractor scopes to confirm full coverage and coordinate with Project Manager prior to award and final payment
  • Participate in job meetings, field operations meetings, and company training programs
  • Support project billing and subcontractor payment processes through accurate field documentation
  • Travel as required to support retail projects throughout Ohio
