About The Position

As a Field Superintendent - Modernization at Schindler, you will manage field technicians in the day-to-day operations of the installation of hydraulic, gearless, and geared elevator modernizations. You will actively participate in field surveys for prospective modernization projects and be involved in the preparation of modernization proposals and bids. Your role will require you to determine the scope of work required and the manpower needed to complete projects in a timely and profitable manner. You will also be responsible for ordering the correct parts for all aspects of a project.

Requirements

  • BS/AS degree in Engineering, Management, Supervision, or Business required.
  • In lieu of degree, Journeyman Technician experience with a minimum of 5 years in the field required.
  • Preferred: 3 years experience in the elevator industry, construction industry, or related building systems industry.
  • Prior experience in installation and service of elevators/escalators preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience with a unionized workforce is preferred.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office suite software, Lotus Notes, and SAP is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage field technicians in the day-to-day operations of elevator modernization installations.
  • Participate in field surveys for prospective modernization projects.
  • Prepare modernization proposals and bids.
  • Determine the scope of work and manpower needed for projects.
  • Build a team environment by leading field technicians.
  • Manage training and development of field technicians.
  • Foster excellent communication among team members and maintain good relationships with the local union.
  • Ensure each modernization project meets quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor job completion and drive efficiency.
  • Implement customer and company requirements for quality and safety.
  • Support the local sales team in estimating modernization bids.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints.
  • Participate in company professional development programs.
