The Field Service Test Technician at North American Substation Services (NASS) is responsible for performing skilled technical support work in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical power systems and equipment. This role involves installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various electrical equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and safety in high voltage substations. The technician will work closely with line crews and contractors, contributing to the company's mission of providing top-notch service in the electrical power industry.

  • Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of communication, data processing, and computerized control equipment.
  • Logging and maintenance of operating records as required.
  • Maintenance of solid state devices, computers, telemetering equipment, protective relays, and switchboard instruments.
  • Utilizing drawings/prints and instruction manuals for construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical facilities.
  • Using testing instruments such as oscilloscopes, wattmeters, and signal generators to test equipment.
  • Operating construction/maintenance equipment and tools, including bucket/derrick trucks and oil processing equipment.
  • Performing switching, obtaining clearances, and ensuring site safety for work activities.
  • Collaborating with line crews and contractors as assigned.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Current and valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to pass a fit for duty exam.
  • Availability for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • NCCO Crane Certification.
  • Some knowledge of the fundamentals and principles of electricity.
  • Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions in power distribution facilities.
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret electrical diagrams and prints.
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret power generation and distribution metering devices.
