We are seeking an analytical and problem-solving Field Service Technician to join our Technical Operations Team at Raute US Inc. In this role, you will report directly to the Operations Manager and be at the forefront of ensuring our customers get the very best out of Raute's advanced automation systems. In this role, you won't just maintain equipment - you'll become a trusted partner to our clients, guiding them from system commissioning through the full lifecycle of their investment. Your expertise will directly influence customer success, maximizing performance, reliability, and satisfaction. You'll have the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges, travel to customer sites, and build long-term relationships that make a real impact on their business- we'd love to hear from you.

  • Lead equipment start-ups, preventive maintenance, and system tune-ups to ensure optimal performance of veneer processing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize complex automation systems, applying your expertise to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Deliver hands-on operator training that empowers our customers to get the most from their equipment.
  • Conduct system performance tests and process experiments, measuring and analyzing variables to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide valuable feedback that shapes future process and controls design optimization.
  • Act as a knowledge bridge between Raute and our customers, ensuring smooth two-way communication and understanding.
  • Document each customer interaction with clear and thorough reports using our internal CRM and reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with internal resources to resolve customer needs quickly and effectively.
  • Manage service-related administration (service reports, expenses, weekly time reports) with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Observe, record, and analyze plant and equipment operations, translating insights into practical recommendations.
  • Track and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and system upgrades.
  • Take part in the prioritization of support issues, helping to ensure customer needs are addressed proactively.
  • Contribute new ideas and process improvements that increase the overall efficiency of the Technical Operations team and Raute as a whole.
  • Champion Raute's vision to deliver the best support organization in the industry, setting the standard for customer success.
  • Diploma in electrical technology, ASTT, or equivalent trade experience in control systems and software.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial equipment environment working with wood processing machinery.
  • Demonstrated experience in diagnosing, repairing and solving systems and equipment with a practical and hands-on approach.
  • Good understanding of PLC systems (Allen Bradley, CLX, Siemens, RSView or RSLogix) in both programming and troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical aptitude with an ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites locally throughout Canada and the U.S.
  • Must possess a valid passport and driver's license.
  • Superior communication and listening skills to resolve customer issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including integrity, courtesy, tact, teamwork, respect and discretion.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
