The Boiler Field Service Technician is responsible for the on-site installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of boiler systems, including hot water boilers, burners, controls, pumps, valves, and related hydronic components. This role ensures boiler systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The technician serves as the primary boiler technical representative in the field and is accountable for accurate diagnostics, proper combustion setup, burner tuning, control calibration, and safe operation of pressure vessels and fuel systems. Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, combustion analysis, safety testing, and system startups and shutdowns, as well as identifying performance or safety issues and recommending corrective actions. Additional responsibilities include documenting all service activities, maintaining tools, test instruments, and service vehicles, adhering strictly to safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures, and communicating clearly with customers regarding boiler condition, repairs, and operational recommendations. The Boiler Field Service Technician is ultimately responsible for minimizing system downtime, ensuring reliable heat and steam production, and upholding the company’s standards for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
