About The Position

As a Field Service Technician, you will work closely with both internal teams and external clients building, installing and maintaining complex equipment OEM industrial liquid filling machinery. Approximately 30% of your time will be traveling to client sites and the rest will be working closely with our teams at our HQ in Baltimore. You will utilize both detailed and general instructions to assemble, analyze, test, and troubleshoot complex problems, diagnose, and repair systems. Also, you will provide technical support to customers - inclusive of small, intermediate, and large machines - and ensure the equipment meets customer requirements and supports profitability. The position reports to the Technical Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum (5) years’ experience in an automated industry/manufacturing environment required.
  • AA degree and/or technical school training with specialization in mechanical, electrical engineering or computer science field accepted.
  • Advance knowledge of mechanical/electrical practices, electrical theory, PLC programming, pneumatics and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to follow detailed mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tool, hand, power, and air tools.
  • Manual dexterity, eye/hand coordination, ability to bend, stoop, stand or kneel for long periods of time.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Good customer relation skills and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in programming PLCs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of servomotor control.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency with computer software programs including Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Build machinery using hand tools, measuring instruments in accordance with mechanical and electrical prints and keeping to the project schedules.
  • Install equipment, which may include travel to customer’s location, using hand tools perform machine reassembly and testing.
  • Perform testing of customer products, set up equipment to meet product specifications and required tests following test criteria.
  • Train equipment operators and maintenance personnel to facilitate full knowledge of machine operations and understanding of customer’s operations plus troubleshooting techniques
  • Troubleshoot customer issues over the phone, research customer’s equipment, diagnose issues with customer’s feedback applying mechanical and electrical knowledge of machine programs.
  • Repair or upgrade equipment, which may include travelling to customer’s location to perform the repair or upgrade.
  • Job related paperwork: time scanning, providing information to engineers for updates, service visits, etc.
  • Assistance with the final assembly of machinery and customer factory acceptance testing in our facility.
  • Work schedule is full time Monday – Friday first shift. (40 hours/week). Some weekend travel may be necessary from time to time based on customers’ needs.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time.
  • Other duties as assigned or required working in a team environment to achieve a common goal.
