About The Position

Peraton is looking for a Field Service Technician to support a contract onsite in Washington, DC. This role is responsible for the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Layer 1 structured cabling systems supporting network infrastructure and end-user devices. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with copper and fiber cabling, strong technical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in field environments. Peraton has served as the prime contractor for this program since its inception in the 1980's. We provide high-level government leaders with reliable secure voice, video, and fax communications anytime, anywhere, in any environment in support of day-to-day operations. We support a secure, worldwide, high-performance communications network comprised of real-time interactive applications allowing complex national and worldwide communications. Peraton provides the O&M of the network infrastructure and its components. We provide integration for development of hardware and software solutions, and engineering support for the delivery of system, network, software, and security solutions.

Requirements

  • An active/current TS/SCI Security Clearance is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in equipment installation and delivery with a strong understanding of IT equipment.
  • Strong organizational and communications skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders or in confined spaces.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • BICSI certification.
  • Experience with fiber optic termination and testing.
  • Familiarity with cable certification tools (Fluke or equivalent).
  • Previous experience supporting a government and/or Department of Defense customer.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, label, and test structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic).
  • Perform installation and Layer 1 support for: Network devices (routers, switches) VoIP phones Workstations and peripherals Wireless access points (WAPs) Print devices
  • Install patch panels, racks, cable trays, and related hardware.
  • Perform cable certification and testing using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve physical connectivity issues.
  • Read and interpret network diagrams, blueprints, and cable layouts.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations and service work.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Travel to customer sites as required.
  • Provide professional communication and support to clients and internal teams.
