About The Position

The Field Service Technician at ABB is responsible for executing service work in accordance with ABB's quality and safety guidelines. This role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring customer retention, and identifying opportunities to improve customer operations. The technician will perform field service tasks, analyze technical issues, and prepare necessary materials for service activities, all while working remotely and contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent military experience, or an Associate's Degree with 2 or more years of experience in servicing critical power equipment.
  • Consideration for candidates with a High School Diploma/GED and 10 or more years of experience.
  • Advanced ability to interact and communicate information at varying organizational levels (written and verbal).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Moderate ability to self-project manage using MS Project or Excel.
  • Advanced ability to write test plans and reports detailing test results.
  • Candidates must have work authorization to work for ABB in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in servicing critical power equipment.
  • Familiarity with ABB's energy distribution solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Execute service work as per work instructions and ABB quality and safety guidelines.
  • Deliver quality customer service by planning and executing service work according to customer orders and expectations.
  • Communicate service work timelines and expectations effectively to ensure customer retention.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer operations and eliminate pain points while on-site.
  • Perform field service tasks and analyze technical issues through remote or on-site activities.
  • Prepare material lists needed for service activities and ensure availability and quality of materials, parts, and equipment.
  • Act as a trainer for field service associates and customers when needed.
