This Position reports to: Process Analytics Field Service and Trai. In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB quality and safety guidelines. Each day, you will deliver quality customer service planning and execute service work as per customer order and expectation. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring customer retention by effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations. The work model for the role is: Hybrid, but based out of Houston, TX. #LI-Hybrid. The role reports to the US Analytics Field Service Manager. As a Field Service Technician, you will operate, coordinate, and collaborate within the field service team to meet assigned objectives. Working within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

  • Execute service work as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB quality and safety guidelines.
  • Deliver quality customer service planning and execute service work as per customer order and expectation.
  • Ensure customer retention by effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations.
  • Perform commissioning/start-up services, troubleshooting/repair services, and preventative maintenance on measurement and analytical equipment.
  • Conduct work activities in compliance with the ABB HSE (Health, Safety and Environment), ABB Way, and Safety Manual & Safety policy.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable product line warranties and accomplish effective warranty administration.
  • Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized industry standards for engineering ability.
  • Be responsible for hands-on execution of projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive and unplanned maintenance of Measurement and Analytics products.
  • Perform administrative functions such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, completing reports for customers, time sheets, and expense reports.
  • Exercise good judgment in controlling costs and expenditures of company funds.
  • Strive to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction in all transactions and relationships.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (OR a High School Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of engineering / field experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of field service experience.
  • Strong technical background with technical skills in startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive, and unplanned maintenance of products.
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships and work effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and be customer service oriented.
  • Strong Computer skills to include Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% as required.
