About The Position

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Field Service Technician. This role is crucial for ensuring customer satisfaction through the completion of service requests in the assigned territory. The technician will perform field repairs, glass replacements, operational adjustments, and conduct evaluations and inspections. The position requires effective communication with customers and service schedulers to ensure efficient routing and timely service delivery. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining inventory in their service vehicle and may need to travel outside of their territory occasionally, including overnight stays.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and skill in field service repairs and services
  • Knowledge of and skill in the use of various tools and equipment used in the repair and replacement of windows and doors
  • Knowledge of general construction or building products installation
  • Knowledge of fenestration product and manufacturing technologies
  • Knowledge of common fenestration installation techniques and materials
  • Experience in glass glazing
  • Ability to maintain composure during conversations with upset customers
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to develop rapport with a variety of individuals
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to read maps and operate a vehicle
  • Skill in oral, written, and interpersonal communication
  • Skill in time management
  • Skill in the use of personal computers, MS Office, and Word

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years general construction or building products installation experience
  • 1-2 years fenestration manufacturing or installation experience

Responsibilities

  • Complete all service requests in assigned territory
  • Perform field repairs, glass replacements, operational adjustments, and repairs
  • Conduct field evaluations and inspections
  • Document work performed for each service call
  • Review daily schedule of appointments with Service Scheduler for efficient routing
  • Confirm appointments with customers prior to arrival
  • Provide feedback on complete and incomplete service requests
  • Document requirements for follow-up appointments
  • Assist in scheduling follow-up appointments
  • Provide technical feedback and recommendations for modifications
  • Operate 1 ton truck in a courteous and safe manner
  • Maintain parts inventory in assigned service vehicle
  • Monitor supply levels of parts and materials, restock as needed
  • Respond timely to email, phone, and service communications
  • Report escalated matters to the service supervisor
